SPECIAL AWARD:

One entry will be awarded the “Best of Show” as voted by the judging committee. The cash award for this prize will be $250.

PRE-REGISTRATION DEADLINE:

All entries must be received by 6:00p.m. Wednesday September 28, 2011.

AWARDS CEREMONY:

Winners will be announced and prizes awarded at 6:00 PM on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the Keowee River Pumpkin Patch.

Keowee River, 225 Tee Ben Trail, Seneca, South Carolina 29672

DELIVERY OF ENTRIES:

Entrants are responsible for bringing and installing their fully assembled scarecrows to the Keowee River Festival Site from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, September 28^th 2011. YMCA personnel will be on hand to assist entrants in locating designated position sites and supervised installation.

JUDGING:

Approximately 4:00 PM, Friday, September 30th in the Pumpkin Patch. Winners will be announced at 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 1, 2011.

RESTRICTIONS:

• No offensive political or religious statements will be allowed.

• All entries are subject to the limitations of space availability as well as the standards of display set by management.

SCARECROW SPECIFICATIONS:

A metal fence post is placed in the ground for attaching the scarecrow. There is approximately 4 to 5 feet of post reveal upon which the scarecrow must be attached. The builder of the scarecrow must provide a method for attaching the scarecrow.

MATERIALS:

As all scarecrow entries must remain out-of-doors from set-up date until the end of and may be subject to severe wind and/or rain, their construction should be durable and all ornamentation securely attached.

KINETIC ENTRIES:

As no electricity is available for kinetic scarecrows, you must provide your own silent (no power generators, please) power source – batteries, solar power units or wind currents may be utilized for the movement or other effects.

All entries must conform to Keowee River Scarecrow Fest standards. Keowee River reserves the right to deny exhibition privileges to any entry considered to be offensive in regard to race, sex or religion.
